5 Minutes With Krystian Hordejuk from Galaxy Bar Dubai
Galaxy Bar in Dubai is one of the most beautiful venues we’ve event seen. An exquisite marble bar sits under a ceiling decorated with glowing lights, imitating the night sky.
Situated in the heart of Dubai’s International Financial Centre, this intimate bar’s design is a nod to classical Greek architecture.
This influence extends to the menu, drawing inspiration from the constellations and Greek mythology. The Greek spirit Metaxa appears in a number of recipes throughout.
Since opening in 2019, the bar has won numerous accolades, noted by Campari as “One to Watch” in 2020. After reaching the 50 Best Bars long-list in the same year (No. 67) the bar was a new entry on the main list in 2021, taking no. 45.
We chatted to Executive Beverage Manager Krystian Hordejuk about life at one of the world’s best bars.
Hi Krystian, tell us a little about Galaxy bar?
Galaxy Bar, based in the DIFC in Dubai, is situated next to Avli by tashas, our sister restaurant.
Originally a storeroom for the Avli’s, Natasha Sideris (Founder and CEO of tashas Group) had an inspiring moment and she decided to create an entirely new concept and make it into an intimate bar, like no other in the city.
It’s amazing to think that we are now #45 of the World’s 50 Best Bars.
While Avli by tashas is a modern celebration of the simple beauty of Athens, Galaxy Bar is a celebration of the Greek night sky.
It’s an incredible space bathed in a deep, dark blue, with lights that shimmer down from the ceiling, velvet seating and an incredible Lemurian marble arched bar that takes centre stage.
What goes into a good cocktail?

#2 Preparation – ensure every single ingredient used is of the highest quality
#3 Passion – to deliver a memorable experience
What is your favourite thing about working in the bar industry?
The fact that every day you have a chance put yourself to the test in a variety of situations.
It’s a dynamic environment with plenty of room for innovation, personal growth, and team building. I love that about this industry.
How did your bar have to adapt to COVID-19?
Given COVID protocols imposed by the government which meant that we had to close the bar, we extended the seating capacity of our sister venue, Avli By tashas.
This allowed us to operate as a private dining space for those that were seeking more privacy, at the same time as maintaining social distance regulations.
Apart from your bar, where you do like to drink and socialise?
The location does not particularly matter, as long as I am surrounded by close friends.
However, I love Amazonico. It’s a fun and eclectic space with multiple bars spread across three floors, including an amazing rooftop overseeing some of the most iconic landmarks in DIFC.
ROKA Dubai is another favourite of mine; it boasts a dynamic beverage program featuring a wide range of in-house carbonated bottles.
Finally, Mimi Kakushi makes me feel as though I have travelled back in time to Japan in the 1920s. It is classic, elegant and Oriental with a modern drinks offering approach.
Any advice for those looking to replicate your success in the bar industry?
Define your strengths and weaknesses, surround yourselves with the right people and never give up on what you really want to achieve.
