2 Dashes Aztac Chocolate Bitters

2.5ml Simple Syrup

Add the ingredients into a mixing jug with cubed ice. Stir, then strain into a chilled coupe.

About The Drink

Located on the tranquil Gaoyou Road in the old French Concession, the three-floor bar E.P.I.C. is one of a kind in Shanghai’s bar scene.


The whole theme here is about disco funky, so you can easily dive yourself into the vintage and industrial-chic vibe, just like the one from last century.


The soul of E.P.I.C. is the Shanghai’s favorite barman – Cross Yu, who has been listed as the China champion and global finalists in many of the cocktail competitions, such as Chivas and WorldClass.


Yu started out in the hospitality world in 2002, working as a waiter in a Vietnamese restaurant. Seeing a “really cool guy” behind the bar, he was intrigued by the possibilities of bartending and mixology.


After learning his craft at the Laris restaurant on Three on the Bund, he joined the team at well-known venue MINT.


In 2009, he won the Diageo World Class China award, and a few years later launched E.P.I.C. with the slogan “Do Epic Shit!”


The team led by him is young, promising, as vibrant as the drinks they serve at the bar.


With ingredients like Mexican worm salt, tonka beans, saffron, soy sauce… the concoctions here are sure to feast the eyes, palate and curiosity.


When the disco lights are turned on, you’ll discover the true meaning of the bar’s name. Only good music and vibes are allowed here. That’s exactly what makes the bar itself an EPIC experience.


Since opening in 2014, E.P.I.C. has won global recognition. In 2021 the bar ranked no. 41 on the World’s 50 Best Bars list.
