Cocktail Competition | Sacred Spirits

August 13, 2018 by Tom Bronock

Sacred Spirits is a London based micro-distillery based in Highgate. It is a truly artisan, multi-award winning product, and was founded in 2008.

The brand is launching a cocktail competition and challenging you to innovate with their gin, vodkas, whiskies and aperitifs. This is a must-enter for mixologists who care about provenance and product.

All entrants must submit a signature serve (name and recipe), embracing ‘the spirit of innovation’ to spirit@sacredgin.com by 28 August.

There will be five regional heats, followed by the final on 10 October.

The heats are as follows:

4th September – The Midlands: The Edgbaston, Birmingham, Carl Hawkins.

5th September – The North: Cane & Grain, Manchester, Lyndon Higginson.

6th September – The West: Hyde & Co, Bristol, Richard Tring

11th Septemer – West London: The Blind Pig, Soho, Paul Bradley

12th September – East & South London: Cocktail Trading Company, Brick LN, Paul Mathew.

The Final: 10th October – The Sacred Distillery, Sacred at the Star, Highgate, London.

The Format:

Each bartender will have 10 minutes to produce a signature serve embracing ‘the spirit of innovation’. This should include a minimum of 35ml of Sacred spirits.

You will then have a further 5 minutes to make a drink using a minimum of 35ml from the Sacred low-ABV range (vermouth, rosehip cup, sloe gin), with a maximum of 3 ingredients.

Marks will be given for taste, presentation, knowledge, innovation (signature serve) and simplicity (low-ABV).

The winner of each heat will take away a liquid prize, along with their place at the final, joined by the runner up.

The Final

You will produce your signature serve, compete in a mystery box round and a distillate ID test.

Judges for the final include Alessandro Palazzi, Remy Savage and Ian Hart.

The Prize

The overall winner will return to the Sacred distillery for a day to develop a limited edition gin, available exclusively to their bar and at the Sacred distillery.

Of course, they’ll also receive a case of the gin themselves.

Any questions should be directed to spirit@sacredgin.com

This is a great opportunity to work with a fantastic British  brand.
