The Cocktail Service is focused on sustainability and reducing our impact as a company on the environment. The events industry has a huge impact on the environment and we are determined to be a leader in the events industry in tackling this issue.

What Are We Doing To Be More Sustainable?
As a company we take sustainability very seriously. We are a member of various associations including Festival Vision 2025 (through which we pledge to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2025) and Energy Revolution. We also partnered with charity Less Plastic, through which we have completely removed single use plastic from our operations.
Internally, we recycle and dispose of food waste responsibly. We create all new cocktail menus with a sustainable focus which includes cold infusion of spirits and dehydrating garnish to increase shelf life. Implementing reusable cup schemes and car sharing schemes when working at outdoor events has further reduced our waste and carbon emissions respectively.
We are also moving away from plastic bottles and embracing new suppliers such as Nice Wines, CanO Water and Ace + Freak Cocktails.
As an organisation, we’re always looking for methods to increase our sustainable practices. In 2019 we appointed an internal environmental lead and hold quarterly environmental meetings to pitch new processes.
Through this initiative we have authored a Plastic Transformation Guide to help companies like ours to plan strategy for removing single use plastic entirely from company operations. We are currently working on further guides on implementation of cups schemes at events. All of this material is available to share with the industry.
Implementing Sustainable Suppliers as Our House Pours
In 2021 The Cocktail Service partnered with three sustainable producers who became our house pours.
After reviewing our sales data, it was clear that vodka and gin were our most in-demand spirits at events.
As part of a wider sustainability drive around our supply chain, it was important to us to take a more sustainable approach to these two products.
Acting on this, we researched options for sustainable partners and moved to Sapling Spirits for our house vodka, with Warners Distillery becoming our house gin.
Our cocktail recipes require a wider variety of liqueurs to add flavour and colour. It was vital therefore, that we partner with a local, organic producer, and the award-winning Gibson’s Organic Liqueurs fit the brief perfectly.
As well as providing premium, delicious products which make for delicious cocktails, these we selected these producers for their sustainable approach and ethos. Each are involved in amazing sustainability initiatives which The Cocktail Service is proud to partner with.
Our Sustainable House Pours
Sapling Spirits Vodka
Made using ingredients local to Sapling Spirits HQ in London, their vodka is clean, creamy, and smooth, with just a hint of sweetness. Using local ingredients means that their emissions during creation are reduced.
Sapling also plants trees for each product they sell – so far they’ve planted nearly 50,000 trees.
In our case, they plant a tree for every litre we buy, and have also supplied TCS with a 5 litre bag-in-a-box, reducing our glass waste and carbon emissions for delivery to us and to events.
The Cocktail Service team recently attended a tree planting party at Sapling where we were able to see the immediate positive impact of replanting trees in our communities.
Warner's Distillery Gin
Using farm-grown ingredients, Warner’s make delicious farm grown gin.
As they say, it’s not rocket science!
Direct action such as replacing imported dried citrus fruits with fresh, waste peels from local factories led to them winning the Waste Prevention and Management Award at the Footprint Drinks Sustainability Awards two years in a row.
Warner’s also won the 2021 Stakeholder Engagement Award for their work in creating the local community action group – Harrington Biodiversity Action Group.
Their London Dry gin is vibrant, fresh, and zesty. It also tastes all the better knowing the work that goes in to make it sustainably.
Warner’s are also putting their money where their mouth is, as members of 1% for the Planet. Each year Warner’s donates 1% of total business revenue to fund environmental causes around the world.
Gibson’s Organic Liqueurs
After two years volunteering at organic farms across the UK, founder Matt Gibson launched his own endeavour in 2007.
Farming the land sustainably, Gibson’s creates organic products without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilisers.
Their products have won numerous awards, including notable wins from the Soil Association and the Guild of Fine Food.
Rather than seeking to maximise yield or attain government grants through intensive farming techniques, Gibson’s has sown a wildflower meadow in a rewilding project. 4 acres of native woodland have also been planted.
Their liqueurs are vegan, gluten free and perfectly balanced – not to sweet, not too bitter.
Gibson’s Farm is a 40 minute journey from The Cocktail Service HQ, meaning carbon emissions created via transportation are substantially reduced.
