The History of In Another Country
The Old Man in Hong Kong is an award winning cocktail bar inspired by the 1952 Ernest Hemingway novel about a Cuban fisherman and the biggest catch of his life, yet with a distinctly Asian touch.
After it’s opening in summer 2017, the bar quickly received Tatler’s Best Cocktails award less than half a year later. Since then, the establishment has only gone from strength to strength, further opening in Singapore.
This cocktail is inspired by novel Men Without Women, which was published in Hemingway’s 1927 short story collection. It deals with WWI soldiers receiving treatment in Italy during the war.
The Old Man is listed 15th best cocktail bar in the world on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020 list.
