Trader Vic Mai Tai
The recipe for one of several Mai Tai variations but probably one of the first, the Trader Vic Mai Tai.
Ingredients
25ml Golden Rum
25ml Dark Rum
15ml Triple Sec
15ml Orgeat
25ml Lime Juice
How to Make a Trader Vic Mai Tai
Add all the ingredients to s cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Serve on ice in a rocks glass.

The History of the Trader Vic Mai Tai
Who invented the Mai Tai…this is one of the biggest debates in cocktail culture. The honours are claimed by two tiki heroes – Don The Beachcomber and Trader Vic.
Both cocktails are slightly different and here we showcase Trader Vics. Named after one of the first people to try it shouted “mai ta’I Roa ae!” a tahitian expression when something is amazing. From that moment on the Mai Tai was born.
Trader Vics was actually a chain of restaurants under the name, founded by Victor Jules Bergeron. During the tiki heyday of the 1950’s and 60’s there were over 25 Trader Vic’s restaurants and the man himself created many enduring tiki classics.
